TAKIN' IT TO THE HOUSE!: BEST COLLEGE RETURNERS OF ALL-TIME!!
Every time there's a kickoff or punt you're looking at the returner hoping for a big play or the play that turns the game upside down. In this case, I decided to take a look at what I feel are the top five college football return specialists of ALL-TIME! So let's get to it.
Tim Brown is one of the most underrated returners of all-time. Mainly because he was such a threat as a wide receiver. Combine his speed with vision and elusiveness, Brown became one of the best returners of all-time on his way to winning the Heisman trophy and a stellar career in the NFL.
Before I go any further... NO! I am not a Michigan fan by any means, But! I would be lying to myself if i didn't put these two on the list. With both men hailing from Ohio ( Cleveland and Fremont respectively) one has to wonder how in all of the blue hell did Ohio State let these two legends get away? That's a story for another time, but what i will say is that these two led that team up north to many wins and Big Ten titles during their time at Michigan. What really puts them on the list as a duo is that Both Woodson and Howard made history by returning punts against Ohio State down the same sideline exactly six... yes six years apart!! Oh yeah, Both returns were the Plays that lead both Woodson and Howard to win the Heisman trophy, the Big ten title, and Both men never lost to the Buckeyes in their careers at Michigan. To add more history to it, both plays were called by the great Keith Jackson who commentated a lot of OSU/UM games.
2. Ted Ginn Jr. (Ohio State)
I Grew up a Hurricanes fan. So seeing Devin Hester run roughshod over the country from 2003-2005 was simply spectacular! Think about this, Hester's nickname in college was "Anytime"! A tribute to Deion Sanders who would be a mentor to Hester. Hester has so many Miami and NFL records it isn't funny. If you ever take a trip to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio you are bound to see at least one Devin Hester Jersey for a return of some sort that made history. Devin Hester has made his mark as the Greatest college football return specialist of ALL-TIME, and for good reason. The man was simply AMAZING! If you need a refresher here it is below.
I get it, it was so long ago how can he be on this list? Simple, this is where "Prime Time" started. Sanders would return kickoffs and punts and would absolutely scare opposing teams to the point where they would just stop kicking to him altogether. "Prime Time" would also keep this trend going in the NFL for years after leaving Florida State.
4. Tim Brown ( Notre Dame)

3. Desmond howard/ Charles Woodson (Michigan)

Yes, I'm very biased when it comes to my Buckeyes, but if you saw Ted from High School til now you knew he was a special player. Ted has world class sprinter speed. That's a scary thing to think about when you voluntarily put the ball in his hands. No, Ted didn't win the Heisman, But he was beloved by Buckeye fans. Not only did he return the opening kickoff of the 2007 BCS title game for a touchdown against Florida, he also set a Big Ten record for most career punt return touchdowns with six.
