As we continue with the Senate Athletic League preview, we will stay on the west side of Cleveland and introduce the next team.
James Ford Rhodes High School
Nickname: Rams
Colors: Royal blue, White, Black
Head Coach: Robert Andrews
Key players: WR/DB Ty'shawn Lane (senior), RB/DB Dion Floyd (senior), OL Samarr Scott (senior), RB/DB Jumerius Hope (senior), OL/DL Lavar Johnson (senior), RB/LB Calvin Gore (junior), OL/DL Alex Harris (sophomore), RB/DB Te'von Meredith (sophomore), QB/LB Deshaun Coleman (junior), LB/RB Areon Cowling (senior), QB/LB Victor Pratt (junior), OL/DL Cory James(senior), DB/RB Raymeir Black-Cogburn (junior), WR/DB Marshawn McGowan (senior)
Overall Preview: The Rams will look to battle rival John Marshall over the dominance of the west side. They have veteran leadership on both offense and defense. They have a lot of two-way players on the team and keeping them fresh come the middle of the season will be important. If the Rams can survive the early half of their schedule which does feature a showdown with Glenville, they may possibly earn a spot in the state playoffs if not the Senate City Championship. We spoke with coach Andrews and he has more than a positive outlook.
" We have a veteran group of skill players with speed, but the heart and soul of our team is our offensive line. I'm looking for us to win some big games this year. The stars just might be aligning for us!"
FINAL PREDICTION: If the Rams can keep their two-way players healthy, this will be a tough team to see later in the season. Over the last few years the Rams have been a thorn in the side of the rest of the Senate teams. Making their last City Championship appearance back in 2017, the Rams will be looking to make another push towards their Goal of a state playoff appearance.
FINAL RECORD: If said players can stay healthy, this maybe a 7-3 team with a playoff appearance!
