COBRAS AND GLADS OPEN THE SEASON!

 



        This Saturday night, the Cleveland Cobras will open their Tri-point Football league season against the Ohio Gladiators in what should be a highly anticipated match-up in week one. Before we even get to the game lets take a look at both teams by the tape.


OHIO GLADIATORS:

Head coach: Chris Ballentine

Preseason record: 1-1-1

Key players offense: Danny Skalecki, Brad Tscannen, Twan Miller, Montae Taylor, Tony Perrine

Key players defense: Russell Terry III, Austin Mobley, Ruben Williams, Nate Pritchett, John Rice

Overall: The Gladiators have played a preseason schedule just to get the kinks out. playing to a tie with the Akron/Canton Pitbulls, beating the Kings, and losing to the Cleveland Rams. The Gladiators look to their defense to lead the charge with a veteran core and on offense will sport a few known veterans in the Ohio minor league scene.


Now let's take a look at the Cobras.


CLEVELAND COBRAS:

Head Coach: Adam Rogerson

Preseason record: no games played

Key players offense: David Thompson, Darryl Golson, Jaron Robertson, Emmett Calhoun, Dylan Froelich

Key players defense: Percy Payne, Rodrico Stamps, Carlos Alexander, Andy Coed, Kevin Green, Cam Scott

Overall: Like the Gladiators, the Cobras Historically have kept a fearful hard-hitting defense. With veteran Qb David Thompson the Cobras look to have an explosive offense and look to light up the scoreboard.


Bottom line: This will be the opening regular season game for both teams. Both teams sport defenses that could be in the leagues top ten. The only problem for the Gladiators is that no-one has seen what the Cobras look like as they didn't play any preseason games. We will be broadcasting this game so we can't really give you guys a pick BUT, what we can say is that this game will come down to ball control and turnovers. The team that makes the most plays, generates the most turnovers, and can run the ball may come out on top. PUT EM' IN THE COFFIN!!!

 Hoffman Estates, Illinois        The Cleveland Crunch have been on a mission this season. With arguably the toughest schedule in MASL 2 this year the Crunch have definitely faced test after test and have weathered the storm. Don't believe us? Let's put it into perspective. Upon their return in 2021 the Crunch won the M2 championship in the first year back. A feat that isn't done often in any sport. Not only that, the Crunch have taken this year's schedule and battled with even more physicality and determination than last year. This season is no different as they traveled to Chicago to play the Mustangs in a weekend series. This was the rematch as the Crunch swept Chicago in the first weekend series at home at the Soccerplex in North Olmstead. As always this particular rivalry is the best in M2. CRUNCH SHOW OUT ON BANNER NIGHT!!

Cleveland, Ohio                         If you haven't been watching the Cleveland Crunch yet, You might want to. Why? Simple, the Crunch are showing why they're one of if not the best professional indoor soccer team in the country, and from the looks of things that sentiment is not changing any time soon.                                        ( All photos courtesy of 216 sports network photography) Saturday night was a special event as the Crunch celebrated their 2024 MLIS title win.
