TAINTED VICTORY!!

 Cleveland, Ohio

First off, congrats to Rapid City Fc on their win last night. For those that were in attendance at the Soccerplex last nigh you saw a barn burner. That game had everything. Action, suspense, scoring, and even some chippiness. Pretty much everything needed to have the makings of a epic rivalry.

The Problem in this game was the fact that in between the action. it wasn't called fairly. Just like in Michigan a week before there were several missed calls and Rapid City then introduced FLOPPING. It was so bad that kids under the age of 10 were noticing. This flopping was so bad that several blue and yellow cards were issued against the Crunch. Yet, no cards were issued for the clearly intentional flops nor were the refs calling the game fair in our opinion.

Is this a issue in all sports? Yes, but understand in a game of this magnitude where a division title was on the line you would think the refs would be neutral and make the calls where they were clearly there. This is not to take away from Rapid City. Rapid city is a very good team, but for those that were there in person and watching the live stream it was pretty obvious that calls were missed. This isn't the first time this season on this issue, but if the refs feel the game was called fair then so be it. Moving on.

The other issue about this game was the tainted ending. Picture this, it's overtime and a tie game. A sold out crowd. Both teams making efforts and giving everything they have to win. The away team scores and wins the game, and then the Away team gets disrespectful. Taunting fans that were never disrespectful besides the occasional "boo" chants. Actively making an effort to celebrate in front of the plexiglass on the fans side after every goal scored. They even went as far as to flip the bird to the Crunch fans after scoring the game winning goal. I get that adrenaline was flowing, and emotions were high, but as players you should still have some class and celebrate the right way. One Rapid City player even went as far as to Scream to a young Crunch fan... "What was the score, huh? Who won? Yeah!".  Completely ruining that young fans professional sports event experience. Rapid City was so disrespectful that the live stream commentators were highly upset and ready to handle it like gentlemen.

We're not condoning the fisticuffs at all, but we as a staff at the 216 sports network are former athletes and know the responsibility carried to represent the league, team we play for, and our city with class and respect. That was not displayed by Rapid City last night. We don't know if the refs or even Rapid city will be hit with consequences, but what we will say is congrats to rapid City and you can be sure the league and the Crunch fans will not forget this.

  1. "A game of this magnitude?" In MLIS? Child, please.

  2. Can you believe the away team cheered when they scored the winning goal. The audacity to think it’s acceptable to be happy that you won a close game in OT on the road. Nothing says classy like using the referees as a scapegoat with zero accountability.

  3. Crunch you are so butt hurt about losing. None of you are talking about how the fans were telling rcfc fans to suck their A** or tell them that their moms are Who**s ?? Why don’t you publish something like that? LITTLE KIDS TELLING GROWN ADULTS THAT THEIR MOMS ARE WHO**S. Way to teach your kids some CLASS. You all should be ashamed.

  4. The Crunch fans were the classless group. They taunted the Rapid city players from the start. There was a family sitting in the front flipping off the GR players. The mom started a F*%& you chant in front of her young kids. You don’t want to tell that side. When the Crunch fans were in GR, they talked so much smack it was horrible. The crap the crunch fans have spewed on Rapid City’s webpage is horrible. So before you write a post slamming Rapid City, look first at yourselves.

    1. You are a liar! And even if you were telling the truth, the players are supposed to be professional and not stoop to the level of any away fans. Obviously your players have the maturity of 5 year Olds and had ti resort to taunting and using obscenities towards our fans. YOU and YOUR TEAM need to grow up!

    2. I'm a lair? But their was hundreds of you there how do you know what some fans were saying. You are all making shit up to make RCFC look bad because you are SORE LOSERS. Most of our players have KIDS and are TEACHERS. I know damn well they were not taunting LITTLE CHILDREN. All of you grown adults 40 years old and up NEED TO TAKE THE L like a grown adult and move on. But all of you are so immature that you gotta go make articles and post immature comments all over the fb page. You guys are such grown mature adults. 👏🏻

    3. The league has been notified by myself and others. The league will be investigating the antics of your classless players! I hope your team gets a heavy fine!!! Your team is an embarrassment to the league!!!!!

    4. Guess what no fine given. Why? Because, there was no reason. Embarrassing is all the crap Crunch fans have put out on the internet against a team that the lost to. 😭

  5. Pretty pathetic to write an article like this tbh - you lost a game and the first response is to blame the refs and badmouth the other team. Classless

  6. This has more typos than I can count. Also, losing a game and getting mad about how the other team celebrated is such a club soccer thing to do. Grow up. And it isn’t flopping if it actually gets called. 🤦‍♂️

Have a better team and maybe next time the game won’t be so close. I’m not even a Crunch fan, but I would not want this post representing my club. Take the L and move on. 🫡

  7. This entire article is basically copied and pasted from comments made on Cleveland Crunch page. Very credible! Especially since almost every comment was made my a Crunch fan. Oh but no one acknowledges the comment about how nasty some Crunch fans were behaving. Remember while you’re pointing your finger at someone, don’t forget to check the three pointing back at you!

  8. They wouldn’t even serve a rapid city fan a beer because as soon as they got to the beginning of the line, they went to only cash. 😂
Maybe we should remember the time a player got his leg snapped because the refs wouldn’t call anything or address crunch violence….

    1. It's always cash only, pal.

    2. Also, the Crunch player got a red card and wasn't allowed to play in the home opener or the second home game.

    3. They did call it after it happened (it would be hard not to) but it was getting out of hand before the injury and was not addressed by refs. I’m sorry I wasn’t more clear it my last post.

  9. All this is so childish 🤣🤣

  10. Me and my wife have been up to Cleveland to see our Cincinnati Swerve play and the fans are loud. They have never treated us rude and welcomed us to watch our team. We had many of Cleveland’s fans down here and again loud as normal. Our games tend to be chippy but respect and good sportsmanship are the common factor. Go Swerve

  11. All the ‘RC fans’ commenting weren’t even there. None of you. The concession stand is always cash only so nice try there saying you were turned away, I saw every card handed out and over half were because the RC player flopped and got away with it because the refs weren’t paying proper attention. One RC player pretended to limp off field only to laugh and walk just fine once he thought no one saw him. Another ran into a Crunch player on purpose and dramatically tripped and acted all hurt to get that Crunch player blue carded and then he tried to explain to the ref what happened the ref gave him a red card for chirping off. It’s one thing to celebrate a goal but I saw RC giving the middle finger to young kids. So say what you want RC. But your team has no class and is trash.

    1. No class is losing and whining about everything. Talking about the winning team being trash. That’s no class. I wouldn’t expect any less from Ohio fans. Typical, obnoxious fans win or lose.
