( all photos and videos courtesy of 216 Sports Network photography and The Baseball Heritage Museum)          All my life I have been a baseball fan. My two favorite players of all time are Ken Griffey Jr. and    Albert Belle. As a kid growing up my friends and i would play games upon games of baseball from sun up to sun down. I even went so far as to be the kid with the best swing on the street( i tried my hardest to emulate my swing to look like Griffey's).  As I grew up i saw the wars between the Indians and Mariners in the playoffs. Two Indians' World Series appearances. The Home run race between Sammy Sosa and Mark Mcgwire. On top of playing the numerous baseball video games that came out every year, and of course the magical 2016 year the Indians had before falling to the Cubs in the World Series( I still think Rick Vaughn should have been in attendance!).                          (For those of you wondering, yes t

TRADITION, LEGACY, CHAMPIONSHIP!

On April 12th, 2024 the Cleveland Crunch began their playoff run with the ambition to do two things. First, avenge a 2023 playoff loss to MLIS rival Omaha, and second, add a fifth star to their team crest. On April 14th, 2024 the Crunch did just that. They first dismantled rival Rapid City in the semi-finals 11-5 and punched their ticket to the MLIS finals. Then once they learned their Opponent was another MLIS rival in the Omaha Kings. The Crunch went to work and handled business by beating the Kings 9-4 and won their second league championship in four years and their fifth in team history.  The best part about this championship is that the Crunch were playing with something to prove all season. The Crunch also were playing for something deeper in the title game as they lost two key players in the title game. Admir Suljevic and Kevin "All Good" Blackwood to in-game injuries. With those two going down the Crunch were playing with fire in their eyes and determination i

All season the teams of the Tri-point football league have battled each other to make it to the league Championship game. This Saturday, the final two will take the field to see who will take the crown. The interesting thing about this year's match-up is that it's a battle of 300's. That's right folks, you heard it right. The Port City Spartans and Ohio Gladiators will do battle this weekend for the 2023 league Crown. Before we go any further, let's take a look at each team with our version of the "tale of the Tape". Ohio Gladiators:  Record: 6-2 Head Coach: Chris Ballentine Players to watch: Danny Skalecki, Brandon Milbry, Grant Lisk OVERALL: The Gladiators played tough games all season. The offense averaged 23 points a game, but that hasn't stopped them from punishing opposing defenses with a balanced attack. Their defense however is their staple. Only giving up 8 points a game, But with a defensive line and secondary the Gladiators have they

LOOKING TO BOUNCE BACK!

The Cobras lost a tough game against the Bobcats last week, but will be looking to travel down to historic portsmouth,Ohio to play the Port City Spartans. The Spartans are new to the Tri-point league, but the city itself is no stranger to football. A former NFL city. Portsmouth was once home to the NFL team the Portsmouth Spartans( now Detroit Lions) back in the 1930s.  This iteration of the Spartans is young and talented. So let's take a look at the Spartans. Port City Spartans: Colors: Black, Purple, Gray Head Coach: Datoine Robinson Record: 2-2 overall, 1-0 league play (last game N/A) Key players offense: Mike Clay, Hayden Kinney, Darion Jones Key players defense: Rayshawn Raglin, Jaelin king, Dion Mckinley Overall: The Spartans display a balance of speed and defense. They play tough and can hang wit the best of them.  The Cobras declined to be part of the "Tale of the tape" part of the article as it was all business back in the "Snake Pit" this week.

BACK IN THE SNAKE PIT!! COBRAS HOME OPENER THIS WEEKEND!!

While we did apologize for there not being a stream for the Cobras game against the Leviathans back on May 20th. That did not stop the Cobras from coming home with the win that day. That game was also at a neutral site for both teams. This weekend however, the Cobras will be back home in lakewood at the "Snake Pit" for the first time in well over a year. This week's visitors, the Mahoning Valley Ruff Ryderz. Before we get down to the nitty-gritty let's take a look at both teams for a in-depth analysis. THE START OF SOMETHING GOOD: MLIS IS FOR THE FANS!!

(photo courtesy of MLISPRO.com)   Now that the excitement of the inaugural season of Major League Indoor Soccer has died down, I figured this would be the right time. First, Congratulations to the Rapid City Football Club on winning the inaugural 2023 MLIS championship. They truly deserved it. To be honest, they were the most prepared team in the final four, but if we are being completely honest this was the first time in a long time a professional sports league got their playoff teams right on the first try. What I mean by that is this. Each team that won their division did so, then the next best teams got in based on their record. NOBODY complained or felt slighted. Could there have been a couple more teams that got in? Sure, but for the first season this was the right call. We all can agree that not every game was called perfectly, but what we can agree on was that every league game was exciting and entertaining from start to finish. T
