HOME TOWN GUY SHOWS OUT AT GRAPPLING TOURNAMENT!
~North Olmsted, Ohio~
Local grappler Cisco Silver took home the welterweight title in the tournament yesterday in dominating fashion. I spoke with Cisco after the tournament and got his thoughts on his performance.
" Just being able to compete again after a four year hiatus was such a rush, and to beto do it at home made it that much better. I was nervous, I had the butterflies like i did when I competed in college, but that was a feeling I missed. I was confident in my ability and knew if I went out and stuck to my gameplan I'd be successful. So my nerves weren't too high."
When asked about being the home town that brought home another title for cleveland he was more than excited..
" I was definitely out of my weight class for this, but sill being able to come out on top was AWESOME! I had a lot of things to take care of mentally before I could compete. In my mind, this was validation that i am still "THAT FREAK" when it comes to competing."
Finally I asked him about his future in grappling and here was his response..
"I have to be realistic when it comes to my family and career. This was a big step or me, and if all else plays out i may venture into MMA when the time comes."
For those of our local readers that don't know, Cisco Silver is also the Premier Championship Wrestling Welterweight Champion! So That should give future opponents on both mats that Grappling isn't just a hobby for Cisco. The man can flat out perform! Being that this was also Father's day weekend this only made his win even more special as he was able to celebrate his win with his family.
With the success of the grappling tournament we may see more events like this in the near future, and more and more home town people will be inspired to compete and show there's a reason Cleveland has earned our spot on the sports map.
SQUAD!!! ~Cisco Silver~
