SENATE LEAGUE PREVIEW: GLENVILLE HIGH SCHOOL
As we stroll along in the Senate league, we take a trip down to what we Railroaders and beloved Principal Mr. Montoya referred to as " T.S.D.T.S" ( that school down the street) Glenville High School.
Glenville High School
Nickname: Tarblooders
Colors: Red and Black
Head Coach: Ted Ginn Sr. (24th season as head coach, 45th overall)
Key offensive players: Da'shaun Whatley, Raphael Williams, Tavereon Sanders, Melvin Appling
Key defensive players: Zaterion Ward, Trevion Johnson, Jessie Agee, Sir' Sean Ingram, Quantrial Johnson
Overall Preview: In coach Ginn's twenty-fourth year as Head Coach, he will have a new look Tarblodder team. The Tarblooders will also look to continue their dominance over the Senate League that has lasted since coach Ginn took over back in 1997. Knowing that the Glenville doesn't rebuild, they re-load is something that has become natural to the Tarblodders. The Tarblodders will also be looking for another outright Senate league title as well as a continued appearance in the state playoffs as they missed the 2020 playoff season due to covid. I spoke with coach Ginn over the weekend and he's very optimistic about his team.
" We are a very young and inexperienced team That has never played together due to the covid outbreak, but with the emergence of young guys such as Jermaine Foster, Bryce West, Ashton Pugh, Malik Davis, Millique Herrin, Freddie Johnson, Donte Stubbs, Jaylin Carter, Jermaine Agee, Damarion Witten, D'Shawnta Jones, Sidney Little, and Gerald Goodwin, This year will Allow us to gain some experience and we should have a pretty good year."
FINAL PREDICTION: With a tough non-conference schedule that showcases games against Chardon, Olentangy Liberty, and Avon, it wouldn't surprise me if the Tarblooders come into their Senate schedule 2-1 or even 3-0. John Marshall and John hay aren't pushovers by any stretch but I'm positive that the Tarblooders have enough firepower on offense and defense to make a very strong run deep into the state playoffs.
FINAL RECORD: The only game on the Tarblooders non-conference schedule that I have a question about is the game against Olentangy Liberty. They have enough on offense and defense to keep up with Chardon and Avon. Case-in-point, the Tarblooders will be battle-tested when conference play starts. I can see a 8-2 or 9-1 record with a playoff run in the cards for the Tarblooders.
