REBELS ROLL PAST WOLVERINES!!
The opening Senate league game of the week featured two teams who were hoping for positive outcomes after not playing the 2020 season due to covid. John Adams and Lincoln West took the field and both were looking to make a statement. Unfortunately for the Wolverines, the Rebels made it clear they were on a mission.
" I just wanted us to come out and play hard and continue to get better. I wanted us to play hard and as a team, and we did that and we got the job done today."
That was John Adams head coach Gary Jackson on what he expected out of his Rebel team and they did not disappoint. In the first quarter after forcing the Wolverines to punt, John Adams return man Semaj Luke would take the first punt of the game 40-yards all the way to the house for touchdown and the first points of the game. The Rebels would miss the extra point, but that wouldn't stop the onslaught that was coming. After another punt, the Rebels would drive down again and Rebel running back Delontae Cross would punch it in on a 2-yard run with a successful 2-pt conversion to put the score at 14-0 in favor of the Rebels after the first period of play.
In the second quarter, the Rebels would do more of the same as Rebel quarterback Darion Reed would cruise 52-yards for a touchdown but Adams would miss the extra point leaving the score at 20-0. The Rebels would pour it on even more as after another three and out the Rebels would return another punt for a touchdown as Que Miller would take the punt back 25-yards for a touchdown. The Rebels would miss the extra point yet again leaving the game at 26-0 Rebels. Rebels quarterback Darion Reed would strike again as he would take another run 43-yards for another touchdown with a successful 2-point conversion to put the 34-0 in favor of the Rebels at half time.
The Rebels would only score once in the third quarter, but it was a beauty. Darion Reed would hit receiver Que Miller for a 40-yard touchdown pass with another successful 2-pt conversion putting the game at 42-0 Rebels. In the fourth and final quarter the Wolverines would make some plays and get the only turnover of the game in Rebel territory, but that would change when Rebel linebacker Jawahn Studgions would recover a fumble and rumble 63-yards for the final touchdown and successful 2-pt conversion to put the final score at 50-0 in favor of the John Adams Rebels. We spoke with Rebels head coach after the game and here's what he had to say.
" It felt good to be back on the field again after so long. Just to see us play hard and make plays is what I loved about today. We will continue to get better from here."
