CRUNCH ROOKIES PART 2: GETTING TO KNOW BOBBY T!!

From Saint Ignatius, to Walsh University, and now the Cleveland Crunch. Bobby Tsirambidis has continued the father/son legacy as he is the second player on the team that became a second generation Crunch player. Bobby is making his mark and will be appearing in his first playoff game and possibly a road to the championship. Something his dad Tim Tsirambidis did with the Crunch back in the 90's. We were able to speak with Bobby via phone conversation and here's what he had to say.

Obviously your dad was an influence for soccer. What was it like growing up knowing your dad was a pro soccer player?

Bobby:  When I was young it was cool because I can brag about it to my friends, but as I got older it was a weight on my shoulders. The comparison to him. A lot of expectations.

Knowing you and your dad both play for the same team. What's the feeling like at home?

Bobby: It's cool. being able to put on the same jersey my dad did is surreal. something you always dream of as a kid and now it's happening. This is the type of feeling you only dream about.

What's the season been like for you?

Bobby: It's been good. Coming back from playing in Greece I took some time off and laid low. I had the itch so I went to the open tryout. the guys are all great, dedicated, and you cant ask for a great group. It's been great to learn under them and be taken under their wing. been trying to prove myself and show the vets I deserve to be here. I didn't think it would turn out the way it has. My goal was to just make the team and now here I am being on a playoff team.

What does the future hold for Bobby?

Bobby: you never know the future, but I will be starting med school in the fall, so soccer for me will come to a close for the time being, But I will be playing for Cleveland SC in the summer. but its only fitting that my last hurrah is here in Cleveland. From St. Ignatius to Walsh to the Crunch and then Cleveland SC in the summer. If I do have a chance to play, you better believe the jersey I'll be wearing will be a Crunch jersey."

Being another hometown product (St. Ignatius and Walsh University respectively), the city can be proud that the legacy of the Crunch is in good hands. Which brings us to this weekend. This weekend is "WILD CARD WEEKEND" for Bobby T and the Crunch as they will host their first real home playoff game in a long time. They will also be playing host to a familiar opponent.

The Chicago Mustangs will be coming to town in a renewal of the "Blue Collar Battle" between the two blue collar cities. The Crunch are 6-1 all-time against the Mustangs, but the Mustangs have always played the Crunch tough so expect a tough game. The winner of this game will make it to the final four in Chicago the week after. Kickoff is at 7:30 so you might want to get your tickets while you still can because another sell out is looming.
